The Scientific Advisory Board of Cunoașterea Științifică has primarily a consultative and strategic role.

Its members support the maintenance of academic standards, the development of the journal’s scientific and interdisciplinary profile, and the strengthening of its relevance within the academic community.

Membership of the Scientific Advisory Board is not solely honorary, but neither does it imply permanent involvement in the journal’s day-to-day editorial activities.

1. Advice on Scientific Direction

Members may be consulted regarding:

  • development of the journal’s aims and scope;
  • scientific and interdisciplinary directions;
  • emerging and relevant fields of research;
  • the journal’s academic standards;
  • development and internationalization strategy;
  • academic collaborations and initiatives.

2. Maintaining Academic Standards

Members contribute to promoting:

  • scientific rigor;
  • academic integrity;
  • research quality;
  • methodological diversity;
  • interdisciplinary dialogue;
  • academic freedom and reasoned debate.

They may make recommendations for improving the journal’s policies and practices.

3. Expertise and Consultation

The Editorial Office may request a member’s opinion on matters related to their field of expertise, including:

  • the thematic suitability of a manuscript;
  • methodological or conceptual difficulties;
  • unusual academic situations;
  • selection of experts or reviewers;
  • development of thematic issues or editorial projects.

The member’s opinion is advisory.

4. Manuscript Review

Membership of the Scientific Advisory Board does not imply an obligation to review every manuscript.

A member may be separately invited to carry out a peer review if:

  • the manuscript falls within their area of expertise;
  • no competing interest exists;
  • they explicitly accept the invitation;
  • the same rules applicable to any other reviewer are respected.

Membership of the Scientific Advisory Board does not replace the independence required in the peer-review process.

5. Independence and Competing Interests

Members must disclose any relevant competing interest.

They must not exert pressure on the Editorial Office regarding:

  • acceptance or rejection of a manuscript;
  • preferential treatment of an author;
  • inclusion of citations;
  • promotion of personal, institutional, or commercial interests.

The final decision on manuscripts rests with the Editorial Board.

6. Confidentiality

Confidential information received during an editorial consultation must not be disclosed or used for other purposes.

This obligation applies, among other things, to:

  • unpublished manuscripts;
  • research data and results;
  • reviewer identities;
  • academic integrity investigations;
  • internal editorial deliberations.

7. Journal Development and Visibility

Members are encouraged, where possible, to contribute to:

  • strengthening the journal’s academic reputation;

  • promoting legitimate opportunities for collaboration;
  • attracting relevant scholarly contributions.

Membership of the Scientific Advisory Board must not be used to guarantee or imply acceptance of manuscripts.

8. Professional Information

Members must provide accurate and current professional information concerning:

  • affiliation;
  • country;
  • area of expertise;
  • ORCID, where available;
  • relevant academic or institutional profile.

Significant changes should be communicated to the Editorial Office.

9. Voluntary Nature of the Role

Membership of the Scientific Advisory Board is voluntary and unpaid by the journal.

Affiliations are presented solely for professional identification and do not imply institutional endorsement of the journal.

10. Participation and Continuity

Members should maintain reasonable availability for occasional consultation and important communications concerning the journal’s development.

The composition of the Scientific Advisory Board is reviewed periodically in order to ensure:

  • relevant academic expertise;
  • active participation;
  • disciplinary diversity;
  • institutional diversity;
  • appropriate international representation consistent with the journal’s profile.

11. Termination of Membership

Membership may end through:

  • voluntary withdrawal;
  • inability to continue the role;
  • prolonged absence of communication with the journal;
  • serious failure to comply with ethical or academic principles;
  • provision of inaccurate professional information;
  • periodic reorganization of the Scientific Advisory Board.

12. Acceptance of the Role

Acceptance of membership of the Scientific Advisory Board implies acceptance of the responsibilities described above and consent to publication of the member’s name, affiliation, and relevant professional information on the journal’s official pages.
