Cunoașterea Științifică publishes original academic works relevant to the fields covered by the journal. Manuscripts must comply with standards of scholarly research, publication ethics, and the editorial requirements set out below.

The journal uses the Open Journal Systems (OJS) platform for manuscript submission and for managing the editorial and peer-review process.

Manuscripts must be submitted through the journal’s OJS platform.

Transition to Full Publication through OJS

Until December 31, 2026, manuscripts may be managed editorially through OJS, while articles accepted for publication will continue to be published in full on the journal’s official website, www.cunoasterea.ro, and included in the corresponding issues of Volume 5.

Starting on January 1, 2027, with Volume 6 of the journal, OJS will become the official academic platform for the full publication of new articles, management of metadata, and maintenance of published versions.

The website www.cunoasterea.ro will remain the journal’s official presentation website and will continue to provide general and editorial information, journal policies, the previous archive, and access to articles published through OJS.

Types of Works Accepted

Depending on the field, relevance, and academic quality, the journal may publish:

  • original research articles;
  • theoretical and conceptual studies;
  • literature reviews and review articles;
  • case studies;
  • academic essays and analytical papers;
  • interdisciplinary articles;
  • reviews of books and scholarly works;
  • other scientific or philosophical contributions considered relevant by the Editorial Board.

The classification of a submission within a particular category is determined by the Editorial Board.

Languages of Publication

Manuscripts may be written in Romanian, English, or French.

To facilitate international discovery and indexing, articles written in Romanian or French must also include:

  • the title in English;
  • the abstract in English;
  • the keywords in English.

For articles written in English, authors are encouraged to provide the title, abstract, and keywords in Romanian as well.

Manuscript Submission

The corresponding author submits the manuscript through OJS and completes the requested metadata for each author:

  • first name and family name;
  • email address;
  • institutional affiliation;
  • country;
  • ORCID identifier, where available;
  • a short biographical note, where requested.

For works with multiple authors, a corresponding author must be designated.

The corresponding author must ensure that:

  • all co-authors have approved the version submitted to the journal;
  • all co-authors agree with the order in which their names appear;
  • all co-authors have approved submission of the manuscript for publication;
  • all significant contributions are appropriately acknowledged.

The journal does not impose a predetermined limit on the number of authors. Authorship must, however, reflect a genuine intellectual contribution to the conception, conduct, analysis, interpretation, or writing of the work.

Persons who have made other contributions may be acknowledged separately or listed in accordance with the journal’s contributorship policy.

Recommended Structure of the Manuscript

The structure of the manuscript may vary depending on the field and type of article. For original research articles, the following components are recommended.

Title

The title should be clear, concise, informative, and representative of the content of the work.

Abstract

The abstract should briefly present:

  • the context or research problem;
  • the objective of the work;
  • the methodology, where relevant;
  • the main results;
  • the essential conclusions.

The abstract should be understandable independently of the full text and should not normally contain bibliographic citations, tables, or figures.

A length of approximately 200–300 words is recommended.

Keywords

Between 5 and 8 keywords or key phrases are recommended. They should be sufficiently specific to describe the content of the work and facilitate discovery and indexing.

Introduction

The introduction should present the research context, the problem addressed, the relevance of the topic, the objectives of the work, and, where applicable, the hypotheses or research questions.

Main Body of the Work

The text should be organized into coherent sections and, where necessary, subsections.

Depending on the academic discipline and methodology used, separate sections may be included for:

  • literature review;
  • methodology;
  • results;
  • analysis;
  • discussion.

Conclusions

The conclusions should summarize the main findings and contributions of the work and, where appropriate, indicate the limitations of the research and possible directions for future studies.

References

The reference list must include all sources cited in the text and only sources actually used in preparing the work.

Where applicable, additional sections may be included concerning:

  • author contributions;
  • research funding;
  • conflicts of interest;
  • data availability;
  • ethics statements;
  • acknowledgements;
  • supplementary materials.

Manuscript Formatting

The manuscript should be submitted in an editable format, preferably Microsoft Word (.docx).

Other editable formats compatible with the editorial process may also be accepted.

A simple and consistent format is recommended:

  • Times New Roman, 12 pt;
  • 1.5 line spacing;
  • standard margins;
  • clearly differentiated headings and subheadings;
  • consistent numbering of tables and figures.

Academic articles will normally be approximately 5–25 pages in length, although the Editorial Board may accept shorter or longer works where justified by the nature, field, and quality of the research.

Authors are not required to reproduce the journal’s final graphic layout in the submitted manuscript. Formatting for publication is carried out during the editorial production stage.

Citations and References

The journal recommends consistent use of APA Style, 7th edition, for in-text citations and the final reference list.

All works cited in the text must appear in the reference list, and all references listed must correspond to sources cited in the manuscript.

Where available, authors are encouraged to include the DOI of cited sources.

For disciplines in which other established bibliographic conventions are customary, the Editorial Board may accept another citation style, provided that it is used rigorously and consistently throughout the manuscript.

Tables, Figures, and Images

Tables and figures must be numbered and appropriately referred to in the text.

Each table and figure must have a clear title or caption.

Authors must hold the necessary rights to reproduce materials from other sources or ensure that their use is permitted under the applicable license.

The source of reproduced or adapted material must be properly acknowledged.

Images must be supplied at a resolution suitable for publication. For complex graphic materials, the Editorial Board may request original files or editable versions.

Originality and Prior Publication

A manuscript submitted to the journal must represent an original contribution and must not be under simultaneous consideration by another journal.

If the work, an earlier version of it, or substantial parts of it have previously been published or made publicly available, including as:

  • a preprint;
  • a report;
  • a conference paper;
  • a thesis;
  • a version in another language;
  • material published on an academic platform,

the author must inform the Editorial Board at the time of submission.

Prior publication does not automatically result in rejection. Each case will be assessed according to the nature of the material, the degree of overlap, and the applicable ethical standards.

Use of Artificial Intelligence

Artificial intelligence tools cannot be listed as authors or co-authors of a work.

Authors remain fully responsible for:

  • the accuracy of the information;
  • the originality of the content;
  • the correctness of citations;
  • the interpretation of results;
  • compliance with copyright requirements;
  • the final content of the submitted manuscript.

The use of generative artificial intelligence tools in a way that contributes substantially to writing, analysis, data generation or processing, image creation, or other components of the research must be transparently disclosed.

The disclosure should specify, where applicable:

  • the tool used;
  • how it was used;
  • the stage of the research or writing process in which it was used.

Use limited to minor spelling, grammar, language, or stylistic corrections may be exempt from disclosure where it does not substantially alter the intellectual content of the work.

Ethical and Legal Requirements

By submitting a manuscript, the corresponding author confirms, on behalf of all authors, that:

  1. the authors have the right to publish the submitted material;
  2. all authors have approved the manuscript and its submission to the journal;
  3. the contributions and sources of other persons are appropriately acknowledged and cited;
  4. the material does not infringe copyright, privacy rights, or other rights of third parties;
  5. images, data, documents, and other materials requiring permission have been used lawfully;
  6. any conflicts of interest have been disclosed;
  7. sources of funding are disclosed where applicable;
  8. the research complied with the ethical requirements applicable to the field in which it was conducted;
  9. the manuscript does not contain classified information or other information whose publication is prohibited by law.

Authors remain responsible for the content of their works and for compliance with applicable law and standards of academic ethics.

Manuscript Evaluation

All academic manuscripts undergo an initial editorial screening.

At this stage, the Editorial Board may assess:

  • compatibility with the journal’s scope;
  • compliance with minimum formatting requirements;
  • originality and relevance of the work;
  • completeness of metadata;
  • compliance with ethical principles;
  • the academic character of the manuscript.

Works that do not meet the journal’s scope or standards may be rejected at the initial editorial stage without being sent for external review.

Eligible manuscripts are submitted to peer review.

The review process may result in one of the following decisions:

  • acceptance;
  • acceptance subject to minor revisions;
  • request for major revisions;
  • a further round of review;
  • rejection.

The final decision regarding publication rests with the journal’s Editorial Board.

Publication Fee

Cunoașterea Științifică is an open-access journal. Readers may access published articles without subscription or access fees.

A publication fee of EUR 10 is charged for each article definitively accepted for publication.

The fee is requested only after completion of the evaluation process and after final acceptance of the manuscript.

Payment of the fee:

  • is not a condition for manuscript evaluation;
  • does not influence the peer-review process;
  • does not influence reviewers’ opinions;
  • does not influence the editorial decision.

The fee contributes partially to covering the actual costs required for publication and operation of the journal, including:

  • membership and services used for DOI registration and administration;
  • registration and updating of article metadata;
  • hosting and administration of the journal website;
  • operation and maintenance of the Open Journal Systems editorial platform;
  • technical preparation and publication of articles;
  • maintaining online access to published content;
  • maintenance of the infrastructure required for academic indexing and interoperability;
  • preservation and administration of the digital archive;
  • other technical and administrative costs necessary for the operation of the journal.

The EUR 10 fee represents only a contribution to these expenses and does not fully cover the journal’s operating costs.

The journal does not charge any manuscript submission fee or any fee for participation in the editorial or peer-review process.

Authors are informed about the publication fee before submitting their manuscript, and the obligation to pay arises only if the article is definitively accepted for publication.

DOI

All academic articles accepted for publication receive a DOI, with no separate DOI fee.

The DOI forms part of the journal’s standard publishing infrastructure and provides persistent identification and stable citation of the article in the digital academic environment.

DOI registration and administration of associated metadata are carried out through the infrastructure used by the journal for Crossref services.

Copyright, License, and Open Access

The conditions concerning:

  • authors’ rights;
  • publication licensing;
  • reuse of articles;
  • distribution and repository deposit;
  • open-access policy

Authors should consult these policies before submitting their manuscript.

Publication of Accepted Articles

Until December 31, 2026, accepted articles will be published in full on www.cunoasterea.ro and included in the corresponding quarterly issue of the journal.

Starting on January 1, 2027, new articles will be published in full through the journal’s OJS platform.

For articles published beginning with Volume 6, OJS will constitute:

  • the official academic landing page of the article;
  • the primary source of bibliographic metadata;
  • the official location of published files;
  • the primary DOI destination of the article.

The website www.cunoasterea.ro will continue to serve as the journal’s official presentation website and will provide:

  • institutional and editorial information;
  • journal policies;
  • presentation of issues and articles;
  • access to the archive previously published in WordPress;
  • links to articles subsequently published through OJS.
