Cunoașterea Științifică supports open access, long-term preservation, and the widest possible dissemination of published scholarly works.

Authors retain copyright in their published works and may deposit, distribute, and make their works available online in accordance with this policy and the applicable licensing conditions.

The journal imposes no embargo period on self-archiving.

Versions That May Be Deposited

Authors may deposit the following versions of their work:

1. Preprint

A preprint is the version of the manuscript prior to peer review and before acceptance for publication.

Authors may make a preprint publicly available before or during the editorial process, for example through:

  • preprint servers;
  • institutional repositories;
  • disciplinary repositories;
  • general-purpose repositories;
  • personal or institutional websites;
  • other academic platforms.

Depositing a preprint does not, in itself, prevent submission of the manuscript to Cunoașterea Științifică.

Authors must inform the Editorial Board at the time of submission if the manuscript, or a substantially similar version of it, is already publicly available as a preprint.

After the article has been published, authors are encouraged to update the preprint record by adding the citation to the final publication and the article DOI.

2. Accepted Manuscript

The accepted manuscript is the version of the work that has completed peer review and has been accepted for publication but does not yet include all editorial and graphic elements of the final published version.

Authors may deposit this version immediately after acceptance, without an embargo period.

After publication of the final version, authors are encouraged to update the deposited record with:

  • the complete bibliographic citation;
  • the article DOI;
  • a link to the official publication page.

3. Published Version

Authors may deposit and distribute the official published version of the article (Version of Record) immediately after publication, without an embargo period.

This is the recommended version for self-archiving after publication.

The published version should retain:

  • the journal title;
  • the authors’ names;
  • the bibliographic information;
  • the DOI;
  • the copyright statement;
  • the applicable license.

Articles published under the journal’s current policy are distributed under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International License (CC BY 4.0).

Where Works May Be Deposited

Authors may deposit permitted versions of their works in:

  • institutional repositories;
  • disciplinary repositories;
  • general-purpose repositories;
  • preprint servers;
  • personal websites;
  • institutional websites;
  • academic profiles and platforms;
  • digital archives and other legitimate scholarly preservation or dissemination services.

The journal does not require the exclusive use of any particular repository.

Embargo Period

Cunoașterea Științifică does not apply any embargo period to the deposit or distribution of permitted versions.

The published version may be deposited immediately after official publication.

This policy is consistent with the journal’s principle of immediate open access.

Citation of the Original Publication

When a published work is deposited or redistributed, authors must clearly acknowledge the original publication.

It is recommended that the following information be included:

  • author or authors;
  • article title;
  • journal title, Cunoașterea Științifică;
  • volume and issue;
  • year of publication;
  • DOI;
  • a link to the official article page;
  • the applicable license.

The DOI should be used as the persistent identifier whenever available.

License of the Published Version

The official published version of articles covered by the journal’s current policy is available under the CC BY 4.0 license.

This license permits copying, redistribution, adaptation, and reuse of the work, including for commercial purposes, provided that appropriate credit is given to the author and the original publication and that any changes are indicated.

The CC BY 4.0 license applied to the published version should not automatically be assumed to apply to a preprint or an earlier version of the manuscript unless the author has expressly applied the same license to that version.

Third-Party Material

An author’s right to deposit an article does not alter the legal status of third-party material included in the work.

Images, tables, graphs, photographs, text excerpts, or other material obtained from external sources may be subject to separate conditions of reuse.

Authors must comply with:

  • the rights of the original rights holders;
  • the terms of applicable licenses;
  • any restrictions on redistribution;
  • attribution requirements.

Where certain material is not covered by the article’s CC BY 4.0 license, this must be clearly indicated.

Deposit by the Journal

The journal may deposit and preserve published articles and their metadata in its own or external systems for:

  • digital archiving;
  • long-term preservation;
  • indexing;
  • aggregation;
  • scholarly discovery;
  • libraries and catalogues;
  • metadata services.

The journal may also make publication metadata available through scholarly interoperability protocols, including OAI-PMH.

Updating Deposited Records After Publication

Where a preprint or accepted manuscript was deposited before official publication, authors are encouraged to update the record after the article has been published.

The update should include, where possible:

“The final version of this work has been published in Cunoașterea Științifică.”

together with the complete citation and the article DOI.

Removal of the preprint or accepted manuscript is not required.

Withdrawals, Corrections, and Retractions

If a published article is later corrected, withdrawn, or retracted, repositories and platforms where the author has deposited the work should, where possible, be updated to reflect the current publication status and provide a link to the official version or the relevant editorial notice.

Authors are encouraged to avoid maintaining versions in circulation that may create confusion regarding the current status of the work.

Application of this Policy

This policy applies to works published under the journal’s current editorial conditions.

Articles previously published under different copyright or licensing conditions remain subject to the terms applicable at the time of publication, unless expressly stated otherwise.

For each work, the copyright and licensing information displayed together with the published version should be regarded as the applicable reference for that publication.
