Jealousy represents a complex psychological phenomenon with a significant impact on an individual’s emotional and relational functioning, being considered a relevant indicator of personality organization. Beyond its immediate affective dimension, jealousy reflects the way early relational experiences, attachment styles, defensive mechanisms, and emotional regulation processes interact within the individual’s psychic structure. Persistent and maladaptive manifestations of jealousy may indicate structural vulnerabilities and difficulties in affective integration, whereas transient and adaptive forms are associated with secure attachment and mature defensive mechanisms. In this context, the analysis of jealousy provides an important perspective on personality organization and contributes to the development of psychotherapeutic interventions focused on mentalization, emotional regulation, and the strengthening of mature defense mechanisms.
Free Association Between the Promise of Honesty and the Practice of Self-Disclosure: A Re-Evaluation of the Fundamental Rule in Psychoanalytic Therapies

This article undertakes a systematic re-evaluation of the conceptual and clinical distinction between the fundamental rule of psychoanalysis—an ethical commitment to honesty—and the technique of free association. It argues that their persistent conflation in psychoanalytic literature has engendered a critical ‘technical reductionism’, obscuring the relational-ethical foundation upon which transformative therapeutic work depends. The primary objectives are to: (1) establish a clear conceptual demarcation between the rule as a moral pact and association as a verbal practice; (2) critically analyse how classical reference works have perpetuated this confusion; (3) re-centre the fundamental rule as the indispensable ethical condition for analytic work; and (4) delineate the clinical implications of this recovery for contemporary practice, training, and theory.
The Vrancea Seismic Cycle Revisited: A Double-Percolation Framework and Vertical Stress Resetting at Intermediate Depths

The Vrancea seismic zone represents a unique case of concentrated intermediate-depth seismicity in Europe, characterized by recurrent large earthquakes occurring within a narrow subcrustal volume between approximately 70 and 180 km depth. Observational studies indicate that seismic activity is confined to a small, nearly vertical seismogenic body, commonly interpreted as a remnant subducted slab or a delaminated lithospheric fragment. Seismic catalog analyses further reveal the presence of two depth-separated active segments, centered around 90 km and 140 km, which appear to participate alternately in the seismic cycle. In addition, independent investigations document a depth-dependent stress regime, with evidence for vertical extension in the 100-130 km depth range, as well as a correlation between intermediate-depth seismicity and dehydration reactions in hydrous minerals.

The Collapse of the Judicial System: From an Instrument of Hierarchy to a Victim of Anarchy

This paper aims to investigate the trajectory of the functional metamorphosis of the judicial system, analyzing its transformation from an arbiter of the law in a rule-of-law state, to an instrument for consolidating an oligarchic hierarchy, and, ultimately, to a victim of anarchic disorder. The primary objective is the development of an integrative theoretical framework, based on classical sociology, to explain the dynamics of judicial collapse as a function of the erosion of social cohesion. A secondary, yet practically essential, objective is the construction and validation of a quantitative instrument – the Judicial Stability Index (JSI) – which enables the operational diagnosis and early warning of this collapse.
Non-Linear Change: Why Retreat and Reconsideration Are Not Failures, but Mechanisms of Personal Evolution

Objectives: This article aims to deconstruct the myth of linear psychological progress and to offer an alternative conceptual framework that legitimises retreat and reconsideration as integral, functional components of personal evolution. The purpose is to overcome the pathologising perspective on psychological oscillations and to scientifically establish a model of change as a complex, self-regulated, and non-linear process.
Method: The study employs an integrative theoretical-analytical methodology, based on a critical synthesis of literature from dynamic psychology, complex systems theories, developmental psychology, and processual psychotherapy. The approach is qualitative and phenomenological, illustrated by clinical and everyday life examples, aiming to construct a coherent conceptual model.
The Emperor and the Stoic Sage: Philosophical Themes in Marcus Aurelius’ Meditations

Marcus Aurelius’ Meditations is a unique work in ancient philosophy: the private reflections of a Roman emperor striving to live up to Stoic ideals. This essay offers a comprehensive analysis of the Meditations’ philosophical content, examining its major themes in the context of the broader Stoic tradition and Marcus’ own role as ruler. It explores how Marcus articulates core Stoic principles—virtue as the sole good, the use of reason to live in accordance with nature, acceptance of fate and the transience of life, preparation for death, mastery over one’s mind and passions, and the obligations of social duty and cosmopolitan justice. Each theme is analyzed with close reference to passages from the Meditations (using a consistent English translation) and informed by scholarly perspectives on Stoicism and Roman intellectual life. The essay argues that Marcus adapts Stoic philosophy into a personal ethic of governance and self-mastery, displaying both the alignment and tension between Stoic detachment and imperial responsibility. In doing so, Marcus Aurelius emerges as both a faithful heir to the Stoic tradition and an individual voice reflecting the challenges of practicing philosophy while wielding supreme power. Through detailed textual analysis and engagement with academic interpretations, the essay illuminates how the Meditations encapsulates Stoic wisdom in the hands of a “philosopher-king.” It concludes that Marcus’ sincere attempt to integrate virtue with rulership has secured his legacy as an exemplar of philosophical leadership in Western tradition.
