These terms govern the purchase of products available through the online store associated with the Cunoașterea Științifică website.

By placing an order, the purchaser confirms that they have had the opportunity to review information concerning the product, price, payment method, delivery, withdrawal rights, and these terms before entering into the contract.

1. Seller

The online store is operated by:

MultiMedia SRL

contact@cunoasterea.ro

2. Products Offered

The store may offer:

  • printed books;
  • printed journals and individual journal issues;
  • digital books;
  • journals and complete issues in digital format;
  • PDF, EPUB, MOBI, or other electronic files;
  • subscriptions to publications, where available;
  • other editorial products published or distributed by MultiMedia.

The essential characteristics, format, price, and availability of each product are indicated on the relevant product page.

3. Open Access to Academic Articles

Purchasing a complete journal issue in digital or print format is not required in order to access academic articles published under Open Access.

Individual articles published in Cunoașterea Științifică under open access may be read and downloaded free of charge in accordance with the journal’s policy and the license applicable to each article.

Paid products in the store consist of complete editorial editions, books, printed copies, or other products distinct from free access to open-access articles.

4. Who May Purchase

Products may be purchased by individuals or legal entities.

Specific consumer-protection provisions, including the statutory right of withdrawal, apply to individuals acting for purposes outside their trade, business, profession, or occupation.

Purchases made by legal entities or for professional purposes are governed by the contractual provisions and legislation applicable to that relationship.

5. Placing an Order

To place an order, the purchaser selects the desired products, completes the required information, and chooses the payment method and, where applicable, the delivery method.

Before completing the order, the purchaser is shown:

  • the products ordered;
  • quantity;
  • price;
  • any applicable taxes;
  • delivery costs, where applicable;
  • total amount payable;
  • payment method;
  • any delivery restrictions.

For online orders involving payment, the ordering process must make it clear that placing the order creates an obligation to pay.

6. Formation of the Contract

Submitting an order constitutes the purchaser’s offer to buy the selected products.

The distance contract is considered concluded when MultiMedia confirms acceptance of the order on a durable medium, generally by email.

MultiMedia may refuse or cancel an order before performance in justified circumstances, for example:

  • product unavailability;
  • an obvious pricing or configuration error;
  • inability to process payment;
  • insufficient or clearly incorrect information;
  • reasonable suspicion of fraudulent activity;
  • inability to deliver.

Where payment has already been made and the order cannot be fulfilled, the amount paid will be refunded.

7. Prices

The applicable price is the price displayed for the product at the time the order is placed.

Before completion of the order, the purchaser is shown the total amount due, including applicable taxes and, where relevant, shipping costs.

If the website permits prices to be displayed in multiple currencies, the displayed value may result from the conversion rate used by the system.

Where the bank, card issuer, PayPal, or another payment provider applies its own currency conversion, the exchange rate and any additional fees are determined by that provider.

8. Payment Methods

Depending on the product and store configuration, payment may be made by:

  • bank card through a secure payment processor;
  • bank transfer;
  • PayPal;
  • cash on delivery for certain physical products;
  • other methods expressly displayed during checkout.

The payment methods actually available for a particular order are those shown during checkout.

MultiMedia does not request that purchasers send complete bank-card details by email.

9. Invoicing

Invoices are issued on the basis of the information provided by the purchaser.

The purchaser is responsible for the accuracy of the billing information supplied.

Invoices may be provided electronically in accordance with applicable tax legislation.

10. Delivery of Digital Products

Digital products may be supplied by:

  • email attachment;
  • individual download link;
  • access through the purchaser’s account;
  • another method indicated on the product page.

Digital products are normally supplied after payment confirmation, generally within 24 hours, unless the product page specifies otherwise.

A download link may have a limited validity period or a limited number of downloads for security reasons.

If the product cannot be downloaded or the file received is corrupted, the purchaser should contact MultiMedia to restore access or receive a conforming copy.

11. Delivery of Printed Products

Physical products are shipped by courier or another available transport service.

At present, printed products are delivered to addresses in Romania, unless the product page expressly states otherwise.

Orders are normally handed over to the carrier within 3 business days, depending on product availability.

Courier delivery times are indicative and may vary depending on destination and circumstances beyond MultiMedia’s control.

Unless a different period has been agreed, products will be delivered without undue delay and within the maximum period required by applicable law.

12. Shipping Costs

Shipping costs are displayed or communicated to the purchaser before completion of the order where they are known.

No shipping charges apply to digital products.

For physical products, shipping costs may vary according to:

  • destination;
  • parcel weight;
  • number of products;
  • courier service;
  • payment method.

13. Transfer of Risk for Physical Products

In sales to consumers, the risk of loss or damage to physical products passes to the consumer when the consumer, or a person designated by them, takes physical possession of the goods, subject to the exceptions provided by law.

Where a parcel arrives visibly damaged, the purchaser is encouraged to report the situation to the courier and contact MultiMedia as soon as possible.

14. Consumer Right of Withdrawal

Except in cases expressly excluded by law, a consumer entering into a distance contract has the right to withdraw from the contract within 14 days, without having to provide a reason.

For goods, the period generally begins on the day the consumer acquires physical possession of the product.

The statutory right of withdrawal applies to consumers and does not automatically apply to purchases made by legal entities or for professional purposes.

15. Withdrawal for Printed Books

For printed books that do not fall within a statutory exception, consumers may notify MultiMedia of their decision to withdraw within 14 days of receiving the product.

Consumers may:

  • use the model withdrawal form provided at the end of this page; or
  • submit any other unequivocal statement indicating their decision to withdraw.

No reason for withdrawal is required.

16. Individual Journal Issues and Periodicals

Under applicable consumer law, the supply of newspapers, periodicals, and magazines may be exempt from the statutory right of withdrawal, except for subscription contracts for the supply of such publications.

Accordingly, the purchase of an individual issue of a journal or periodical may not automatically benefit from the 14-day withdrawal right.

This exception does not affect the consumer’s rights where a product is damaged, incomplete, or non-conforming.

Subscription contracts for publications are not covered by this exception and remain subject to the rights provided by applicable law.

17. Digital Products and the Right of Withdrawal

Special rules apply to digital books, journals, and other digital products supplied by download, email, or online access where the content is not supplied on a tangible medium.

If a consumer requests immediate supply of digital content before the end of the withdrawal period, the consumer must:

  1. give prior express consent to the beginning of supply;
  2. acknowledge that, once supply begins, they lose the right of withdrawal;
  3. receive confirmation of that consent and acknowledgement.

Once these conditions have been satisfied and downloading or supply has begun, the right of withdrawal can no longer be exercised merely because the user no longer wants the product.

Where these requirements have not been met, the mere fact that the product is digital does not automatically eliminate the consumer’s rights.

18. Return of Physical Products

Where the right of withdrawal applies, the consumer must return the product without undue delay and no later than 14 days after communicating the decision to withdraw.

Unless MultiMedia expressly states that it will bear the return costs, the direct cost of returning the goods is borne by the consumer.

Products should be appropriately packaged to avoid damage during transport.

The consumer is liable only for any diminished value resulting from handling beyond what is necessary to establish the nature, characteristics, and functioning of the product.

19. Refunds

Where the consumer lawfully exercises the right of withdrawal, MultiMedia will refund the amounts received, including the cost of standard delivery where applicable, in accordance with applicable law.

Refunds will be made without undue delay and, in principle, no later than 14 days after MultiMedia is informed of the withdrawal.

Where the purchaser selected a delivery method more expensive than the standard option offered, the additional cost is not required to be refunded.

For physical products, the refund may be withheld until the returned product has been received or until proof of return shipment has been provided, as permitted by law.

Refunds are normally made using the same payment method used for the original transaction, unless otherwise agreed.

20. Conformity of Printed Products

Products sold must correspond to the description and characteristics presented at the time of purchase.

Consumers benefit from statutory rights regarding conformity of goods.

For books and journals, non-conformity may include, for example:

  • copies with missing pages;
  • major printing defects;
  • damage existing at delivery;
  • receipt of a different title or issue from the one ordered.

Depending on the circumstances and applicable law, remedies may include replacement, price reduction, or refund.

21. Conformity of Digital Content

Digital products must correspond to the description and format indicated at purchase and must be accessible under the conditions communicated to the purchaser.

Consumers have rights where digital content is defective, inaccessible, or does not conform to what was promised.

Depending on applicable law and circumstances, remedies may include bringing the content into conformity, a price reduction, or termination of the contract and refund.

Where a file is defective, incomplete, or cannot be opened for reasons attributable to the supplier, the purchaser should contact MultiMedia so that the problem can be remedied.

22. Updates to Digital Products

Purchase of a digital edition grants access to the version purchased, together with updates required by law or expressly promised for that product.

Unless the product page states otherwise, the purchase does not automatically include free access to:

  • new editions;
  • substantial editorial revisions;
  • expanded editions;
  • products subsequently published as separate titles.

23. Intellectual Property Rights in Digital Products

Purchase of a digital product does not transfer copyright in the work to the purchaser.

Unless a license expressly provides otherwise, the purchaser receives the right to use the digital copy in accordance with its intended purpose and the conditions stated for the product.

Unauthorized redistribution, resale, full republication, or making the file available to third parties is not permitted where such uses are not authorized by the applicable license.

Where materials are distributed under a Creative Commons license or another open license, the terms of that license prevail.

24. Pricing or Description Errors

MultiMedia seeks to keep product information accurate, but technical or material errors may occur.

If an obvious error is identified after an order has been placed concerning:

  • price;
  • availability;
  • format;
  • essential product description,

the purchaser will be informed before the order is fulfilled.

If the order cannot be fulfilled on the correct terms and the purchaser does not accept the change, the order will be cancelled and any amount already paid will be refunded.

25. Complaints

For complaints regarding orders, purchasers may contact:

MultiMedia SRL
Email: office@multimedia.com.ro

or:

contact@cunoasterea.ro

It is recommended that the complaint include:

  • order number;
  • purchaser’s name;
  • product;
  • description of the issue;
  • any relevant photographs or documents.

MultiMedia will seek to resolve complaints amicably and within a reasonable period.

26. Alternative Dispute Resolution – ANPC

Consumers may use the Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR / SAL) mechanisms made available through the Romanian National Authority for Consumer Protection (ANPC).

Where applicable, consumers may access the electronic ADR platform provided by ANPC.

General information is available from the:

Use of alternative dispute resolution does not affect any rights consumers may have under applicable law.

27. Data Protection

Data provided during the ordering process are used for:

  • order processing and fulfilment;
  • payment;
  • invoicing;
  • delivery;
  • communication with the purchaser;
  • compliance with legal obligations.

Further details regarding personal data processing are available in the Privacy Policy.

Payment processors and delivery providers may process the data necessary to provide their own services in accordance with their respective policies.

28. Force Majeure and Circumstances Beyond Reasonable Control

To the extent permitted by law, MultiMedia is not liable for delays or temporary inability to perform the contract where caused by circumstances beyond its reasonable control.

Where possible, the purchaser will be informed of such circumstances, and statutory consumer rights remain unaffected.

29. Governing Law

Contracts concluded through the online store are governed by Romanian law and applicable European Union law.

These terms do not limit mandatory rights granted to purchasers under consumer-protection legislation.

Any disputes will first be addressed amicably where possible and, if necessary, through applicable alternative dispute resolution procedures or the competent courts determined by law.

30. Changes to These Terms

MultiMedia may update these terms to reflect changes in:

  • legislation;
  • tax rules;
  • technical systems;
  • payment methods;
  • delivery arrangements;
  • products and services offered.

The terms applicable to an order are, in principle, those in force at the time the contract is concluded.
