Inherent Vulnerability and Ragweed Allergy – A Psychoneuroimmunological and Anthropological Analysis of a Public Health Crisis in Romania

Ragweed allergy (Ambrosia artemisiifolia) is predominantly addressed in the specialist literature as an IgE-mediated condition with a well-defined immunopathological mechanism. This article proposes a complementary interpretation, integrating the concept of embodied vulnerability — the process by which chronic conditions of material deprivation, stress and environmental degradation become embedded in biology and in the psyche — into an analysis of ragweed allergy as a psychoneuroimmunological and anthropological phenomenon. The central thesis is that ragweed allergy is not merely a reaction to pollen, but an embodiment of a degraded environment and a psychological reaction to unresolved psychological baggage.
