Dacian Duna has been a PhD lecturer at Babeș-Bolyai University in Cluj-Napoca since 2008. He has been active in the Department of International Studies and Contemporary History of the Faculty of History and Philosophy of UBB since 2001, occupying, in turn, the positions of full-time doctoral student, assistant and lecturer. Previously, he worked at Bogdan Vodă University as a university tutor. Regarding his studies, he graduated in Political Science in 1999 at the Faculty of Political, Administrative and Communication Sciences of UBB, as head of promotion, then the master’s degree in International Relations Management, in 2001, at the Faculty of History and Philosophy of UBB (head of promotion) and the doctorate in International Relations and European Studies in 2007, under the coordination of prof. univ. Dr. Vasile Pușcaș, with the thesis “European Security Policy at the Beginning of the 21st Century. The European Union and the New Geostrategy of the East”. During his teaching career, he distinguished himself by promoting security studies as a field of research both within UBB and at the national level. Dacian Duna is currently responsible for the UBB master’s degree field of study “Security Studies”. He has been deeply involved in the establishment and promotion of several specializations, such as the bachelor’s degree specialization “Security Studies”, the master’s degree “Security Management in Contemporary Society” and the master’s degree “Security, Intelligence and Competitiveness in Organizations”. He is also an associate professor at the Mihai Viteazul National Academy of Information in Bucharest, where he teaches, within the master’s degree in International Relations and Intelligence Studies, the discipline “Security Studies”, starting from the 2018-2019 academic year.
In terms of scientific research, Dacian Duna worked for several years at the Institute of International Studies of UBB and is currently a collaborator of the Center for Governance and Security Policies of UBB. He has published 2 books as a sole author, 1 book as co-coordinator, 22 chapters in books (of which 1 is in print), 13 textbooks/course materials for the study programs of UBB and SNSPA, was co-author of 1 international online textbook (Teaching International Relations Online), co-author of 1 contribution to the Council of Europe report entitled “Cross-Border Co-operation in the Balkan-Danube Area: An Analysis of Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities and Threats” (2003), 33 studies in specialized journals and 1 review. Dacian Duna was and/or is a member of the editorial boards of the journals: Eurolimes (Oradea) (2011-2018), Romanian Review of International Studies (Cluj-Napoca) (2009-2012), Europolity (Bucharest), Annals of the University of Oradea – International Relations and European Studies section. He was also co-editor of the Romanian Review of European Governance Studies (Cluj) (2011-2016). He is a peer-reviewer of the journal Eurolimes (Oradea) and of the publication Revista Română de Studii de Intelligence (ANIMV, Bucharest). He was an external evaluator of UEFISCDI.
