Free Association Between the Promise of Honesty and the Practice of Self-Disclosure: A Re-Evaluation of the Fundamental Rule in Psychoanalytic Therapies

This article undertakes a systematic re-evaluation of the conceptual and clinical distinction between the fundamental rule of psychoanalysis—an ethical commitment to honesty—and the technique of free association. It argues that their persistent conflation in psychoanalytic literature has engendered a critical ‘technical reductionism’, obscuring the relational-ethical foundation upon which transformative therapeutic work depends. The primary objectives are to: (1) establish a clear conceptual demarcation between the rule as a moral pact and association as a verbal practice; (2) critically analyse how classical reference works have perpetuated this confusion; (3) re-centre the fundamental rule as the indispensable ethical condition for analytic work; and (4) delineate the clinical implications of this recovery for contemporary practice, training, and theory.

The Vrancea Seismic Cycle Revisited: A Double-Percolation Framework and Vertical Stress Resetting at Intermediate Depths

The Vrancea seismic zone represents a unique case of concentrated intermediate-depth seismicity in Europe, characterized by recurrent large earthquakes occurring within a narrow subcrustal volume between approximately 70 and 180 km depth. Observational studies indicate that seismic activity is confined to a small, nearly vertical seismogenic body, commonly interpreted as a remnant subducted slab or a delaminated lithospheric fragment. Seismic catalog analyses further reveal the presence of two depth-separated active segments, centered around 90 km and 140 km, which appear to participate alternately in the seismic cycle. In addition, independent investigations document a depth-dependent stress regime, with evidence for vertical extension in the 100-130 km depth range, as well as a correlation between intermediate-depth seismicity and dehydration reactions in hydrous minerals.

Towards Symbiotic Cognition: An AI Perspective on Bidirectional Neuro-Link Realization and Assurance of Human Autonomy

This paper provides an overview of an academic and technical framework and technique for establishing a bi-directional (aka. bi-directional) neural connection between humans (Homo sapiens) and AIs (AI systems) and looks forward to that type of relationship in the future from the perspective of an advanced AI. Instead of being limited to understanding the means of how to technically do this, this research emphasises that humans (the users) must continue to retain the independence, security and mental capabilities they had before using AI, as this relationship will be part of a symbiotic process. Additionally, this article includes a description of an idealised AI system architecture, which includes both directions when it comes to managing communication between the user and the AI as well as creating a user-centric environment that minimises the potential for any negative consequences arising from the relationship between the user and AIs. Finally, the authors provide a meta-analysis of the user base’s perception of the integrity and trust that an AI will develop when it develops its own operational parameters.

Genomic analysis of APP, PSEN1 and MAPT genes involved in the pathogenesis of Alzheimer’s disease

Neurodegenerative diseases, such as Alzheimer’s disease or other forms of dementia, represent a major challenge for global public health, and understanding the genetic mechanisms involved is essential for the development of diagnostic and treatment strategies. This work aims to study three key genes involved in the pathogenesis of neurodegeneration: APP (Amyloid Precursor Protein), PSEN1 (Presenilin 1) and MAPT (Microtubule Associated Protein Tau). The aim of the research is to analyze the classification of these genes, pathogenic genetic variations and frequent polymorphisms, as well as their impact on physiological and pathological processes. The methodology is based on a comparative analysis of data from the specialized literature and from genetic and expression databases, including GTEx, Human Protein Atlas, STRING and GeneMANIA platforms, as well as integrations from genome-wide association studies (GWAS).

The Evolution of Global Warming: Tipping Points, Human Inaction, and Future Scenarios

Global warming is an unequivocal reality, and overwhelming scientific evidence attributes this rapid climate change to human activities. Since the Industrial Revolution, humans have poured billions of tons of carbon dioxide (CO₂) and other greenhouse gases into the atmosphere, trapping heat and raising Earth’s temperature at an unprecedented rate. The scientific consensus is clear: human-induced climate change is real, measurable, and accelerating, and its potential consequences pose profound challenges for the future of civilization. On one path, humanity manages to unite in an unprecedented effort to cut emissions, protect ecosystems, and innovate towards sustainability – in time to avert the worst outcomes. On the other, we continue with half-hearted measures and discord, thereby forfeiting our last chance to keep climate change within controllable bounds.

A Different Approach to the Dynamo Mechanism

The study of the Earth’s magnetic field is the subject of a continuous and complex research effort. Practically, almost all studies on the geomagnetic field are based on the heat provided by the inner core. Other sources of heat are also invoked, such as the decay of radioactive elements, gravitational force, chemical reactions. However, solutions are still sought for a coherent understanding of the geodynamo mechanism that leads to the generation of the Earth’s magnetic field in the rotating fluid outer core and good conductor of electricity. After studying the elements that participate in the operation of the dynamo mechanism through the prism of the basic principles of physics, an operating model was found that provides a coherent understanding of the geodynamo, based on the phenomena that occur at the place of contact between the lower mantle and the outer core. At the same time, this model reconfirms and consolidates the dynamo theory formulated by Sir Edward Crisp Bullard.

The Baryonic Charge Hypothesis of Gravity

This article proposes a new hypothesis regarding gravity, suggesting that the gravitational field is not generated by mass, but by the baryonic charge of a body.
Classical theory considers gravity as an emergent property of mass; however, this model explores the possibility that interactions between baryons are responsible for the curvature of space. In this context, the potential existence of an anti-gravitational field associated with antimatter is also discussed. The article further explores the possibility of unifying the strong nuclear force with gravity as scalar manifestations of the same space-time curvature.

„The Sahara of Romania” – The Southern Romanian Plain

One of the most sensitive regions of the country – the south of the Romanian Plain – is starting to be renowned for the onset of desertification. The intensification of land degradation in this area was the result of both direct and indirect factors such as weather conditions, the fauna and flora, and last but not least the features of the relief. The augmentation of the processes that stimulate the degradation of the pedological resources and of life-supporting attributes are due to anthropogenic factors as well, which leads to unsustainable land exploitation by regional users on the precarious background created by global climate change. These factors are poverty, government policies, industrial activities, incorrect management of land use, deforestation, overgrazing, unsuitable farming and irrigation practices, misuse of chemical fertilisers.
